Low-Light

Once upon a time, there was a cartoon called GI Joe. That was back in the 80's, when everything still made sense. We had commies to fear and an actor was President. But then, things changed. The 90's arrived, the commies disappeared and the age of political correctness dawned. In a sad decline, GI Joe tried to cope with this new climate by fighting Polluters and Drug Lords instead of Ruthless Terrorist Organizations Determined To Rule The World.

Why did all this happen, you ask? Well, I think the day Sgt. Slaughter joined the GI Joe team was the day that Hell began to bubble up and flood the Earth (so to speak). This lantern-jawed mesomorphic twit single-handedly destroyed the Joes' inherent coolness. It was only a matter of time before the Joes began a downward slide toward the self-important "Save the Earth" mentality that was previously the sole domain of Ted Turner mouthpieces like Captain Planet. It was around this time that the Joe cartoon changed producers, from Marvel's Sunbow to DIC studios.

Having said that, this custom figure depicts Low-Light from his time as one of Slaughter's Marauders during that abysmal era. Please forgive his unfortunate association with the Sgt. Personally, I think he only joined for the swanky new outfit he got to wear. In fact, the sheer freakiness of the outfit is the only reason I did this custom. Electric blue really goes well with camo, don't you think?

Low-Light is basically a re-paint of the original figure, with Tunnel Rat's arms replacing his original long sleeves.
